Evaluating Site-Specific Soybean/Corn Management
Systems in Ohio
Objectives include: 1) Assess variability and develop
input strategies for corn/soybean systems at the MCAC
and Farm Focus, 2) Share information through technology
transfer activities. At Farm Science Review the treatment
objectives for 2001 were to: 1) Evaluate spatial yield
variability of using a dwarf variety versus a drought-resistant
variety. 2) Assess yield variability in the long-term
corn/soybean field. At Farm Focus the treatment objectives
for 2001 were to: 1) Evaluate variable rate knife-application
of phosphorus and potassium versus a uniform knife-application
method for soybeans on a corn/soybean rotation under
two tillage systems typically used in northwest Ohio.
2) Evaluate variable rate knife-application of nitrogen
application using soil test results from nitrate-nitrogen
as the variable rate basis versus two uniform application
rates using a knife-applicator for corn on a corn/soybean
rotation under a traditional tillage system typically
used in northwest Ohio.
